Vikings dressed with more finesse than we previously gave them credit for, a new study out of Sweden finds; vivid colours, flowing silk ribbons, and glittering bits of mirrors all contributed to their glamorous wardrobe.





The men were particularly vain, while the women dressed provocatively for the times.

Voyage to the bottom of the sea

Onlangs lekte uit dat China een bemande diepzee-duikboot uit test die zo maar liefst een diepte van 7000 meter aan kan. Het gevaarte zal dienen voor onderzoek en transport naar een onderzeebasis. Fase één moet afgerond zijn tegen 2010. Hiermee opent China de race naar de oceaanbodem.

Wat is een kleine waterolifant en … is hij echt?

Kleine waterolifanten leven een verborgen leven in de vele modderige watertjes die de Thaise jungle rijk is. Ze worden niet groter dan zo’n 12 centimeter en ze zijn giftig. Naar verluidt kunnen de olifantjes met hun giftige slachttanden een volwassen man doden.

Moses was high when he saw that bush. Or so speculates Benny Shanon, a professor of cognitive psychology at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem:

High on Mount Sinai, Moses was on psychedelic drugs when he heard God deliver the Ten Commandments, an Israeli researcher claimed in a study published this week.

Such mind-altering substances formed an integral part of the religious rites of Israelites in biblical times, Benny Shanon, a professor of cognitive psychology at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem wrote in the Time and Mind journal of philosophy.
